Chapter 306
The bodyguard didn’t hesitate—he grabbed a baton and started smashing everything in sight!
The young man’s face paled as he rushed to shield the equipment. "What are you doing?! Stop this right now!!"
Lou Yuejue’s voice was icy as he commanded, "Move anyone who gets in the way."
Ji Yanchuan stormed up to Lou Yuejue in a panic. "What the hell are you doing?! Did you come here just to cause trouble?!"
Under the flickering, dim light, Lou Yuejue lazily turned his phoenix-like eyes toward Ji Yanchuan. "Ji Yanchuan?"
He smirked, revealing a sharp canine, and tilted his chin up in challenge. "Do I look like the kind of person who causes trouble for no reason?"
Ji Yanchuan froze. "How do you know my name?"
Lou Yuejue ignored the question, leaning against the railing as he looked down at him with arrogance. "You should be grateful this is China. If this were my father’s territory, this place would already be in flames—not just a pile of rusted scrap metal that should’ve been abandoned long ago."
He kicked the roller coaster with disgust. "And you don’t even bother maintaining the safety belts, putting customers’ lives at risk. You act like you’re in the right when you’re clearly in the wrong. Smashing this place to pieces is practically a public service."
Ji Yanchuan’s temper flared. "Who gave you the right to destroy my amusement park?!"
Lou Yuejue scoffed. "The fact that I paid for it! The fact that you accused us of lying when the safety belt snapped! The fact that this whole mess upset my sister!!"
He jabbed a finger in Ji Yanchuan’s face, his voice dripping with venom. "I came here to make my sister happy, not to stress her out! Because of you, she spent the whole time protecting me instead of enjoying herself! I have the power to vent her anger, and I’m going to use it!!"
Ji Yanchuan was left speechless, his fury barely contained. "Where is your sister?"
Lou Yuejue didn’t answer, turning instead to look at Qiao Chuchu.
Ji Yanchuan followed his gaze—and froze.
Qiao Chuchu sat trembling on a folding chair, her auburn hair tousled by the wind as she lifted her eyes to glare at him with disdain.
Ji Yanchuan’s breath caught, utterly captivated by her.
Meng Xue'er stepped past Ji Yanchuan and inspected the safety belt. The fabric had clearly deteriorated from exposure, fraying at the slightest touch.
Guilt-ridden, she bowed deeply to Qiao Chuchu. "I’m so sorry, ma’am. This was entirely our fault—we didn’t check the safety belt properly. We even wrongfully accused you. Please accept our sincerest apologies!"
Another young man, still trying to stop the destruction, ran over in disbelief. "Xue'er, are you insane?! They’re clearly trying to scam us!"
Meng Xue'er kept her head bowed but shot him a glare. "No, they’re not! Look at the belt—it’s completely worn out! We neglected maintenance!"
The young man finally examined the belt and fell silent, shamefaced.
Meng Xue'er turned back to Qiao Chuchu. "We’ll refund you immediately, and you’re free to take whatever action you see fit. Again, we’re deeply sorry for this experience."
Qiao Chuchu’s expression softened. "Now that’s what I call taking responsibility."
Seeing her calm down, Lou Yuejue ordered his men, "Stop."
Meng Xue'er exhaled in relief, looking up at Qiao Chuchu. "Thank you so much for your—"
Her words died in her throat as she stared at Qiao Chuchu in shock.
Qiao Chuchu’s eyes also lit up with recognition.
[This girl looks just like me!]
Lou Yuejue frowned at Meng Xue'er, unimpressed.
Like her? Barely.
Just a slight resemblance in the features.
Meng Xue'er studied Qiao Chuchu’s face, then turned to Ji Yanchuan with a bitter smile. "Yanchuan… is this the girl you once told me I resembled?"
Qiao Chuchu snapped out of her daze and shot Ji Yanchuan a cold look.
Ji Yanchuan couldn’t speak.
The way she looked down on him—it made his throat go dry.
Yes, this was it.
This woman had always despised him.
The feeling was unmistakable.
He took a step forward, as if entranced. "I’ve met you before."
Qiao Chuchu arched a brow and laughed mockingly. "I don’t think so. Who are you?"
Ji Yanchuan: "?"
Ye Huining’s frantic voice crackled through Qiao Chuchu’s earpiece. "Why would you say you don’t know him?! Just tell him he’s Ji Yanchuan, my son, and bring him home already!"
Qiao Chuchu rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath, "Are you stupid? If he’s been rejecting you this whole time, he’ll think this is a setup. He needs to come back on his own—otherwise, you’ll always be on the same level as a dog in his eyes. Is that what you want?"
Ye Huining: "…No. Fine, I’ll trust you."
Qiao Chuchu resumed her haughty demeanor, standing up and brushing past Ji Yanchuan. "Just refund us, and we’ll call it even."
Ji Yanchuan kept staring at her. "You really don’t remember me at all?"
She smirked, glancing back with disdain. "I do know someone who looks like you—a certain ‘Ji CEO’ who rode around in luxury cars, threw money around, and was so shameless he wouldn’t leave me alone. He went missing after a car accident and lost his memory. But you?"
She gave him a once-over. "You’re just the owner of a failing amusement park. You’re not him. So no, I don’t know you."
Ji Yanchuan clutched his chest, bewildered. "But my heart recognizes you. It races whenever I see you."
Qiao Chuchu laughed. "Hearts are supposed to beat. If yours stopped, you’d be dead."
Her tone turned cutting. "Besides, that Ji Yanchuan was nothing special—just a scumbag who once hired men to humiliate me."
Ji Yanchuan’s breath hitched—and suddenly, he grabbed his head in agony!
A memory flashed through his mind:
—A cramped car interior. A girl pinning him against the window, glaring down at him with contempt.
—"Ji Yanchuan, you’re a bastard who deserves to die a thousand deaths."
A flood of recollections surged into his mind, overwhelming him. He collapsed to his knees, clutching his skull.
Meng Xue'er and the young man rushed to his side. "Yanchuan! What’s wrong?!"
Ji Yanchuan trembled, his vision blurring as he struggled to look at Qiao Chuchu.
Ye Huining also sprinted into the park, pushing through the crowd to reach him.
Surrounded by concerned faces, Ji Yanchuan gasped, "I… I think I remember now."
Ye Huining’s face lit up. "You remember?!"
Qiao Chuchu grinned and turned away.
Mission accomplished.
Two million dollars, here we come.
She grabbed Lou Yuejue’s hand and started walking off—until Ji Yanchuan’s voice rang out behind them:
"Actually, I’ve fallen for you!!"
Qiao Chuchu: "?"
Lou Yuejue: "?"
In perfect sync, they turned to stare at Ji Yanchuan, who stood atop the wreckage like a lovesick fool.
Ji Yanchuan was drenched in sweat, clutching his chest as he gazed earnestly at Qiao Chuchu. "That day when I chased after your car, I wanted to apologize to you. But then I got hit by a car, and I forgot everything. Now, though, I remember."
Qiao Chuchu stared at him in shock from the shadows.
Ji Yanchuan stood in the light, shaking his head in remorse as he looked at her.
It was as if he couldn’t bear to admit the truth, yet he had no choice but to face it.
An overwhelming love spilled from the corners of his eyes, from every flicker of his expression.
He couldn’t hide it. He couldn’t control it.
"I know you hate me. And I know that by saying this, I’m betraying the dignity I should uphold."
"But I really do like you."
"I truly, truly like you."
"Please give me a chance to pursue you, Qiao Chuchu."
What do you think?
