Chapter 163: Let You Bite Back, Okay?
On the other side, right after the film suddenly ended and the screen went black, the audience received the usual rating prompt.
【The film has ended. Thank you for watching. Please rate the characters you liked/disliked!】
But looking at this prompt, the entire livestream audience fell into silence.
After a long pause, someone finally reacted.
【Bro... you serious?】
【...That’s it?? Doesn’t Bo Jingmo count as the BOSS? That’s all it took to complete the mission? Don’t we need to eliminate Bo Jingmo too?】
【To the one above, hate to break it to you, but you got played by Bo Jingmo... Didn’t you hear what he said at the end? That guy was never under enchantment. He was acting from the start. He fooled everyone—just to complete the mission.】
【Aaaaahhh!! Bo Jingmo, you bstard, how dare you lie to me!! I was all ready for the players vs. new BOSS showdown, and this guy just drops a “Does this count as mission complete?” line—dmn it, caught me off guard!】
【Oh my god, I knew something was off when he suddenly went for Lina! I thought he was after power, but turns out it was all fake.】
【Genuine question—doesn’t this count as breaking character? He totally doesn’t act like Shen Youyou’s boyfriend anymore.】【Not really. It’s more like he used a skill to remove the enchantment, but from our point of view, it just looked like he was still under it.】
【Absolutely wild. Can’t believe I got tricked by a player as a viewer! Bro, I’m not even gonna call out your character break—you lied to your own team!】
【When Bo Jingmo turned into a ghost before, he always seemed to lose self-awareness. I assumed it was the same this time too—turns out he was totally conscious the whole way through!】
【F*ck, so even his loyalty to Lina was fake? My CP-shipping heart just shattered. My god! Everything was just an act for points!】
【Don’t cry yet—there’s still hope. Did you see him act like that with any other NPC? At least at the end, I felt like he had some real feelings for this NPC. He never had that kind of patience with Shen Youyou.】
【Wuwuwu... that final goodbye kiss, I cried. Why? Why treat our little stepmom like this... she only wanted to get her heart back and keep living, but Bo Jingmo tricked her and she ended up with nothing.】
【So heartless... but in terms of the mission, you can’t deny he did amazing. Killed Lina, then killed Shen Youyou, and destroyed the heart at the end—straight-up perfect ending.】
【To be able to fool everyone, Bo Jingmo really has nerves of steel. So he was actually the first one to realize Lina’s true identity? But kept pretending not to, just so no one would know he was awake? Not even telling his teammates?】
【He did hint at it, just subtly. But didn’t Mu Chengsi not believe him? Nothing he could do about that.】
【Holy sh*t, that’s one hell of a strategy. Bo Jingmo, I admit defeat this time.】
【Feels like Bo Jingmo’s really growing. He used to be completely influenced by the instance and turn into a mindless killing machine. Now he can control himself... even fooled us all.】
【Bo Jingmo’s rapidly rising as a newcomer. He’s not weak either. When he moves on to intermediate instances, the veteran audience is definitely gonna like him.】
【Those bottom rankings are in the past. Didn’t you notice his rating’s been steadily climbing? Feels like he’s about to graduate from newbie player status.】
【Side note—so does Bo Jingmo actually like Lina or not?】
【Hard to say. Maybe Lina just happens to be his type, and he played along with her; or maybe it was all to keep up the appearance of being enchanted and he had no choice but to act intimate; or being bold here—maybe he just liked her face and went along with it.】
【It’s fine, wait for the next instance. I have a feeling! There’s definitely gonna be another NPC like her. Guys, watch for the traits!】
【D*mn, the way you say it is kinda creepy. Every instance has an NPC with the same traits? Doesn’t that feel like too much of a coincidence?】
【Probably the main system’s doing. Isn’t it meant to prevent Bo Jingmo from going mad? Looks like it’s working!】
“They figured it out?”
Watching the barrage of comments fly across the screen, Yu Li raised her eyebrows slightly and turned to the system beside her. “Will the main system notice?”
The system hesitated. Technically, it should tell Sister that the main system probably noticed them a long time ago, but it also had no idea what exactly the main system was planning now—saying it out loud wouldn’t solve anything.
Besides, the little system had its own little secrets too.
So it answered uncertainly: “...Probably not?”
Hearing that, Yu Li paused and gave the clearly guilty-looking little system a sideways glance, but didn’t press further. Seeing Bo Jingmo’s rating increase, she turned off the comment screen. “Let’s go. Time to head back.”
The little system lay on Yu Li’s shoulder, thinking it over, and gave a very gentle reminder: “Sister, if you keep looking like this... the audience might start to notice something’s off.”
Too many similar NPCs across the instances—viewers were bound to catch on.
Yu Li nodded in understanding. “Can you change it?”
“Wuwu, no.”
“......”
Yu Li patted its head. “It’s fine. Minor issue.”
—
Maybe because Yu Li died earlier than the players, when she opened her eyes, the man next to her hadn’t woken up yet.
She lay in Bo Jingmo’s arms, first tilting her head to look at his peaceful sleeping face, then reached out to gently touch his cheek.
Afterward, she carefully slipped out of his arms, picked up the phone nearby, and checked the time.
Seeing it was still early, she set the phone down and was just about to close her eyes when a scorching, strong arm suddenly wrapped around her waist, and the man’s body heat enveloped her from behind.
Yu Li asked softly, “Awake?”
“Mm.”
Bo Jingmo responded, then hugged her waist tighter, lowering his head to inhale the scent of the person in his arms. “Does your body still feel uncomfortable?”
His voice was a little hoarse, deep and magnetic—like a cello playing softly in the early morning. As he spoke, his warm breath brushed against her neck, sending tingles down her spine. Yu Li couldn’t help but touch the back of her neck.
But when she heard Bo Jingmo’s concern, she paused and raised her eyebrows, turning to look at him. “What do you think, Mr. Bo? That sudden bite of yours really wasn’t in the script we agreed on.”
It wasn’t just Jiang Xi and the others—Yu Li, his own girlfriend, hadn’t expected Bo Jingmo to suddenly bite her.
The original plan was for him to show up and kill her only after she had collected all the hearts. But this little boyfriend didn’t just skip leaving her a single heart—he even made her clock out early.
The man leaned in and brushed his lips against the corner of hers, explaining, “Lili, if we dragged it out, you’d just feel worse. I wanted you to rest more.”
Yu Li’s body had already been weak inside the instance. Even after reclaiming her heart, her strength had been overdrawn for too long.
And precisely because of that, when Bo Jingmo had to kill her in the end, he would have needed to be more forceful.
So the man chose the gentlest way to let Lina “die.”
Seeing that Yu Li didn’t respond, Bo Jingmo’s lashes fluttered slightly, and he kissed her cheek. “Are you mad?”
He took her hand and guided it to his shoulder, coaxing her softly:
“My bad. How about I let you bite back now, okay?”
What do you think?
