After Transmigrating into a Novel with My Boyfriend, He Turned Out to Be a Native Villain

Chapter 142: Targeting Mu Chengsi

The moment that thought popped into her head, Mu Chengsi thought she was going crazy.

What do you mean “familiar”? How could she possibly be familiar with an NPC?

But in response, she still forced a smile and raised her wine glass toward the other woman.

Yu Li glanced at the other players and slowly walked down the stairs, smiling as she spoke: “Master Shen had some matters tonight, so he couldn’t make it. Please forgive him. As for Shen Youyou, she…”

Before she could finish, Steward Wang suddenly rushed over, his face serious. He leaned in and whispered something into Yu Li’s ear.

The smile on the woman’s face gradually disappeared. Her gaze swept the area before she narrowed her eyes and asked, “Where’s Mary?”

“She’s missing too, Madam.”

Before Yu Li could respond, a panicked voice cried out from not far away, “Madam!! The backyard of the North Residence is on fire!!!”

The players on the scene were startled and instinctively turned to look toward the North District.

Sure enough, in the thick darkness of night, firelight flared, lighting up half the sky in a startling display.

Mu Chengsi had been watching Lina’s expression closely, and when she saw the smile completely vanish from the woman’s face, she had a bad feeling in her gut.

“Something’s off. Be ready to pull out…” she muttered to Yi Xian while keeping an eye on the woman’s movements.

But as soon as her eyes met the woman’s, her voice caught in her throat, and an inexplicable guilt gripped her—like a student caught whispering in class.

In the eerie silence, the woman’s red eyes shimmered slightly, and in their cold glint, there was silent danger.

“Apologies, everyone.” She smiled slowly. “It seems there’s been an incident. Looks like you’ll all need to return to your rooms and wait for now.”

As her words fell, the servants around them began swarming in, surrounding them completely.

Wu Bei watched the scene, silently tightening his grip on what he held and forced himself to stay calm. “What about Shen Youyou?”

“Shen Youyou?”

The woman tilted her head slightly when she heard the name, her eyes curling with a fake and insincere smile, “I’m looking for her too.”

In an instant, all the players tensed up. No one said a word as a silent tension filled the air, thick as fog.

“Looks like you’re all not too willing to cooperate…”

The woman smiled brightly, her fingers casually toying with the wine glass in her hand. Her gaze flicked toward them, then she gently curled her lips and lazily let go—

Crack— The glass shattered instantly.

The sharp shattering sound was like a spark, instantly igniting the tense atmosphere.

“Run!!” Mu Chengsi suddenly shouted.

She threw her wine glass at the nearest servant, quickly tore open the cumbersome gown to reveal the tight jeans underneath, and kicked the person hard.

Snatching up a vase for defense, she turned swiftly toward Yi Xian, “Go!”

There were just too many people surrounding them. She could only ensure she herself wouldn’t be caught—she didn’t have time to worry about Yi Xian.

Yu Li watched the scene unfold, raising her brows slightly. She turned her head and said to Steward Wang, “Take some people to the North District. Find those two for me.”

“Yes, Madam. And here?”

Yu Li glanced at the players and spoke casually, clearly not taking them seriously: “They can’t stir up much trouble.”

Though she said that, she knew full well that just these few people wouldn’t be enough to capture the players.

Besides, she never planned to catch them in the first place.

Didn’t they want to see Shen Youyou? She’d let them.

Her gaze landed on Mu Chengsi, a flicker of surprise and delight flashing in her eyes. Curling her lips, she softly said, “Target Mu Chengsi.” Then she turned and walked away.

“Yes, Madam.”

On the other side, Yi Xian didn’t have Mu Chengsi’s agility. Faced with so many people, her face had gone pale with nervousness.

She opened her mouth when she heard Mu Chengsi’s voice, but then it was like she remembered something. Her eyes dimmed, and she silently swallowed her words.

Mu Chengsi slammed the vase into someone’s head and finally had a moment to glance around—only to realize Yi Xian was already gone.

She’d used her skill to escape.

Mu Chengsi wasn’t the least bit surprised. She had already known Yi Xian’s skill before entering the instance.

Turning again, she looked toward Wu Bei—he had already taken Jiang Xi and darted out of the crowd. With high-speed movement and a luck buff, they’d definitely make it out.

So now, she was the only one left on the scene.

Mu Chengsi clenched her fists. She wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination, but it felt like all the NPCs were charging at her.

Watching as the woman’s figure disappeared around the corner, her gaze hardened. She quickly grabbed a knife from the nearby table and stabbed it into the hand reaching toward her.

“Ah!!” As the scream rang out, she kicked the person in the gut, flipped the table, and broke free of the encirclement.

Someone lunged to pin her down. Mu Chengsi clicked her tongue in frustration and forcefully flipped the table, grabbed a cobblestone from the path, and hurled it at their knees—one after another, fast and ruthless.

Grunts and cries of pain erupted all around her.

Sweat dotted Mu Chengsi’s forehead and her breathing turned ragged. She stood up, her gaze sweeping rapidly across the faces of the people around her.

Their masks had fallen. Beneath them, the faces of the “guests” were strikingly familiar. Upon closer inspection, they were all servants from the estate.

“Heh, of course.” Mu Chengsi let out a cold laugh. She ground her teeth and glanced between the front gate and the mansion.

Wu Bei and the others probably weren’t far yet. She could still catch up. But… Lina was still inside.

And Bo Jingmo was most likely there too.

With that thought, Mu Chengsi wiped the sweat from her forehead. Her eyes turned sharp and resolute, icy with determination.

She tied her hair back, bent down to pick up the small knife, and slowly stepped toward the mansion.

She wasn’t just here for the instance mission—she also had the task assigned by deva—

Find out the cause of Bo Jingmo’s abnormality.

Meanwhile, after Wu Bei and the others escaped, they ran into Yi Xian, who had just teleported outside.

“Mu Chengsi didn’t make it out?!” he asked anxiously.

Yi Xian rested her hands on her knees, panting, her face pale from using her skill, “No, she’s still inside.”

Wu Bei’s eyes widened slightly. That meant only Mu Chengsi…

Wait!

He quickly scanned the area, his tone urgent, “Bo Jingmo isn’t out either?!”

Clenching his teeth, Wu Bei was already considering whether he should go back to rescue the two of them.

But he had already brought Jiang Xi out. If he used his skill again to go back and bring others out, it would drain his stamina drastically. If something else happened afterward, he might not be able to keep Jiang Xi safe.

Jiang Xi was panting too. She adjusted her slightly crooked glasses, turned to look back at the mansion, and her voice remained calm, “Bo Jingmo will be fine. He won’t die.”

Wu Bei was stunned for a moment, but before he could say anything, Jiang Xi added in a heavy tone:

“But… I don’t know if he’ll stay human.”
