Chapter 438
Ji Fei was still half-asleep when she heard an impatient knocking at the door.
The warmth enveloping her disappeared, followed by the sound of the door opening.
"For god’s sake, it’s already eleven o’clock! Today is the birthday banquet! The feast is about to start! Sure, we all understand that you two just got engaged, and your siblings were willing to handle all the guests for you this morning, but you can’t just skip the luncheon! Everyone came first for the banquet, and second for you! You have to show up!
Wait… don’t tell me… you two haven’t even slept yet?!"
Ji Fei felt like the noise was too much. Shortly after, the door closed, and a low, husky voice murmured beside her ear.
"Feifei, we have to go out now. I’ll bring you back later."
Ji Fei instantly panicked.
Whenever she heard Qin Xian’s low voice and his warm breath so close, it meant one thing—he wasn’t done with her yet.
No! She was going to die if this kept up!
Annoyed, she waved him away and pushed him off, only to feel a kiss land softly on her palm.
"I love you, Feifei."
A moment later, the room fell quiet again—Qin Xian had gone into the bathroom.
Ji Fei felt like she had only slept for a moment before waking up again.
As she gradually regained awareness, she felt an odd soreness all over her body.
And then—
The realization hit.
Her face flushed bright red as she covered it with both hands and let out a silent scream.
She had no idea how she survived last night.
All she remembered was that voice whispering against her ear even as the morning sun rose.
Normally, Qin Xian spoiled her endlessly, always giving in to her whims.
But this time, no matter how much she begged him to stop, he wouldn’t listen.
He had… absolutely… no self-restraint!
It was too much!
Her whole body ached—wait. No, actually, it wasn’t as bad as she expected.
She suddenly remembered—Qin Xian had massaged her after they were done.
When Qin Xian came out of the bathroom, the first thing he saw was his wife with a flushed face, her bare shoulders covered in his kiss marks.
His gaze darkened instantly.
He strode over and pulled her into his arms, his lips pressing against her ear.
"Feifei, we need to freshen up. I’ll carry you."
Qin Xian’s smug expression made Ji Fei want to throw a tantrum, but… she couldn’t.
After all—she was the one who started it last night.
"I don’t need help! I can do it myself! Go put on some clothes first!"
But just as she tried to get out of bed, her legs gave out, and she collapsed back down.
Her waist was fine—but her legs weren’t cooperating at all!
A low chuckle echoed beside her ear.
Ji Fei glared at him, but the next second, strong arms lifted her up effortlessly.
He carried her to the sink, half-holding her, half-supporting her, and then—
Qin Xian personally helped her brush her teeth and wash her face.
Ji Fei felt like a baby, but when she looked at his reflection in the mirror, he seemed to be enjoying himself way too much.
This better not become a weird habit!
When she glanced in the mirror again, she confirmed her worst fear—she could only wear long sleeves and pants today.
There was no way she could face people like this!
Even putting on shoes, Qin Xian had to help her before he finally pulled her up.
"Just hold on for a bit. After the birthday greetings, I’ll bring you back to rest. Once you wake up, you can eat something."
Ji Fei leaned against him, getting used to her new set of legs as she walked.
"I’ll have to stay for the luncheon. But once that’s over, I’ll slip away to check on you. Just make an appearance for the evening banquet."
"I don’t need to socialize?"
Qin Xian smiled.
"I promised you—as my wife, you can do whatever you want. You don’t have to handle social obligations or take on responsibilities. Just be yourself and stay by my side."
Ji Fei couldn’t suppress her grin.
Being spoiled like this felt amazing.
But… if Qin Xian kept indulging her like this, wouldn’t she become too pampered?
"But what about the elders?" Ji Fei tried to find a reason to argue.
"At least for today, Grandfather, Dad, and Mom will understand. After all, this is my fault…" Qin Xian said as he gently bit her ear.
Ji Fei’s legs nearly gave out again.
"Stop messing around! Where’s your dignity, Qin Xian?!"
"What dignity?"
"You know, acting all cool and aloof?"
"Why should I act cool around my own wife?"
As they walked, Qin Xian clung to her from behind.
"Feifei, I’m really happy. If only we didn’t have to deal with the outside world… I just want to stay with you forever, never leaving the room."
"No, no, no! You definitely need to go out!" Ji Fei was instantly alarmed.
Qin Xian pouted at her. "So Feifei didn’t like last night? Then I…"
Ji Fei thought he was going to say he’d hold back next time.
Instead, he said—slowly, deliberately—
"Then I’ll just practice more. Until my wife enjoys it."
[ABSOLUTELY NOT. I STILL WANT TO LIVE A LONG LIFE!]
Qin Xian laughed outright.
"Come on, let’s go get Grandpa’s red envelope."
At the mention of money, Ji Fei’s eyes lit up instantly.
The Grand Entrance
The youngest master of the Qin family was finally making his first formal appearance, after keeping the guests waiting all morning.
And he only showed up when it was time for the juniors to give their birthday greetings.
The stunning couple walked in arm-in-arm, under the watchful eyes of hundreds.
Qin Xian, as always, was calm and composed.
Ji Fei, on the other hand, was simply too exhausted after last night’s events.
Her entire body felt drained, so she naturally carried herself with an air of effortless poise.
It looked like neither of them felt the slightest pressure despite the occasion.
The crowd buzzed with whispers, mostly about yesterday’s proposal.
Now, even those who had doubted Ji Fei—seeing that she had no powerful background anymore—realized her position was unshakable.
She had the full acceptance of the entire Qin family.
Qin Xian led Ji Fei to stand among their siblings, lined up properly for the formal greetings.
The other siblings smirked at her, their teasing smiles full of meaning.
Even Ji Fei, usually thick-skinned, couldn’t help but lower her head.
Across from them, Qin’s father and mother were beaming with joy, completely unconcerned about their tardiness.
At that moment, Grandma Lü approached.
"Xiaomei took Lulu to pick up her father. They’re stuck in traffic and won’t make it back in time. Just go ahead with the birthday greetings. They can give theirs later."
No one really cared.
After all, Lü Meihe’s daughter was a stepdaughter. Ever since her marriage, she had already drifted apart from the family.
The guests wouldn’t even notice her absence.
As soon as the auspicious time arrived, everyone began kneeling in turn, offering their blessings to the Old Master.
What do you think?
