Chapter 70 70: Long-lost Heart Palpitations
It was past ten at night when they left the eyeglasses store and arrived at Guangzhong Fifth Village. Nearby were top-tier universities like Shangcai, Shangwai, Shangke, and Tongji.
Although it was the summer break, there were quite a number of students around preparing for postgraduate studies, so the streets were lively.
A Lamborghini SUV drove into University City, immediately attracting envious glances from young students.
"There's Hongfa Apartment up ahead."
Su Wanyu pointed at an old apartment building not far away. It had 26 floors, and many of its windows were lit. The occupancy rate was very high.
"After coming all this way, aren't you going to invite me up for a glass of water?" Lu Liang asked with a smile, parking the car by the roadside.
Su Wanyu looked wary. "What are you up to?"
After spending the evening together, Mr. Lu, who was once courteous, had turned into Bastard Lu in her eyes.
Although she preferred the shameless Bastard Lu—compared to Mr. Lu, he seemed more lively and real—
but the progress in their relationship that night had been fast enough. She wasn't ready to take it any further and even felt somewhat scared.
"I'm just simply curious and want to take a look."
Lu Liang didn't hide his thoughts and even talked about his previous experience as a real estate broker, seeing many girls' rooms.
Many had glamorous exteriors but untidy homes. He was very curious which type Su Wanyu was.
"You used to be a real estate broker?" Su Wanyu was surprised.
She suddenly became curious about Lu Liang's past because being a broker was a job with no barriers; basically, anyone could do it.
"I'm not a wealthy second-generation, how could I possibly be born rich."
Lu Liang spoke lightly, but Su Wanyu could hear from his words that he had surely experienced unimaginable hardships along the way.
Feeling a tug at her heart, she pretended to be fierce. "Just to take a look and have a glass of water. If you have other ideas...hmm…"
"Got it, don't act like a tigress."
Lu Liang couldn't help but chuckle. Watching her act so fiercely was incredibly adorable. He couldn't resist ruffling her hair.
"Stop it, that's annoying~"
Su Wanyu bared her teeth and swatted Lu Liang's hand away.
But when she turned her head, a smile appeared on her face, clearly not minding Lu Liang's affectionate gesture.
She was just verbally contrary.
Lu Liang picked up his crutch and assisted Su Wanyu out of the car; she lived in a small single-room on the sixth floor of the apartment.
Her rent was 850 yuan, quite cheap compared to nearby apartments, rented to her by a senior in May.
"6023, this is it."
Su Wanyu hesitated while taking out the keys, not very keen on letting Lu Liang in.
Seeing this, Lu Liang smiled; they were already at the door, how could he not take a look inside.
"Let's just look. It's nothing really."
Su Wanyu wrinkled her nose, pushed the door open, and switched on the lights. The interior's layout was visible at a glance.
A bed, a set of desk and chair, a mirror, and a canvas wardrobe— the rest was nothing but books.
There was no pink-theme room for girls; the whole room was simply but neatly arranged.
The only out-of-place item was probably the long blue pillow on the bed, looking a bit like a sea horse or perhaps a dragon.
The color of the pillow's lower half was noticeably lighter than its upper half, painting a picture of Su Wanyu hugging it like a monkey each night.
Su Wanyu noted Lu Liang's gaze, her face flushing as she hurriedly lifted the quilt to cover the sea horse.
Hopping on one leg, she reached the desk and searched, unable to find a disposable cup.
She reluctantly picked up her own cup, dabbed it with a towel, and meticulously cleaned it several times.
She handed Lu Liang a glass of water. "There's only one cup at home. Drink up and leave."
She had lived here for over two months, and only her parents had visited once last month for a graduation photo.
Even her best friends hadn't visited on regular days; everything in her room was single without spares.
Lu Liang sat on the only chair, watching Su Wanyu sit by the bed, drinking water unhurriedly.
Suddenly, there was a sound of furniture banging against walls from next door, accompanied by faint moans.
Usually, such moans would be drowned out by the noise of fans and air conditioning units.
But at that moment, it sounded 100 times louder, exceptionally clear.
"Aren't you leaving yet?"
Su Wanyu puffed her cheeks, continuously pushing the air from left to right, and then from right to left.
A flush of red unknowingly climbed up from her ears to her cheeks as she tried to ease her tense mood.
Lu Liang suddenly put down his water glass, and the clink of the glass hitting the table made Su Wanyu's heart tremble involuntarily.
He leaned in slowly, and she widened her eyes, tilting her head back slightly with a trembling voice, "What are you doing?"
Lu Liang chuckled lightly, caressed Su Wanyu's cheek, lifted her hair, and kissed her forehead, "Goodnight, I'm leaving."
He walked to the door, then suddenly stopped, "Starting from today, I am your boyfriend."
"From now on, whatever time it is or whatever happens, you can call me."
"I'm free tomorrow afternoon, I'll come over to pick you up and take you to the office, wait for me at home."
Finally, Lu Liang smiled and looked at Su Wanyu, "I've said my part, what about you?"
"Well well… goodnight~"
Su Wanyu's cheeks flushed red, and like a beckoning cat, she mechanically lifted her hand and waved.
Lu Liang closed the door and left, and the next second, Su Wanyu, like a madwoman, kept rubbing her cheeks.
Feeling that it wasn't satisfying enough, she threw back the covers, dove into bed, and furiously rubbed her Haima plush toy.
After venting, her mood gradually stabilized.
A little while later, she let out a giggling laugh.
Meanwhile, Lu Liang returned to his car.
He looked up at the balcony of apartment 6023.
It seemed a figure flickered past.
Suddenly, his phone rang. Su Wanyu had sent a message: "Drive safely on your way, goodnight~"
It was accompanied by a bashful cat emoji.
"Bye, sweet dreams."
Lu Liang displayed a smile, feeling a flutter he hadn't felt in a long time, though there was an inexplicable irritation bubbling in his heart.
In the dim car, accompanied by the sound of a lighter, a flame lit up, and Lu Liang's voice followed, "Now heading to Peace Restaurant, I've booked a nice room, will be there soon."
Lu Liang tossed the cigarette butt, left University City, and made a call to Tan Tao, "Open a suite for me, there will be a girl named Zhang Qian coming in my name, take her directly upstairs."
Forty minutes later, Lu Liang arrived at Peace Hotel.
Tan Tao was waiting at the hotel entrance, "Mr. Lu, Miss Zhang just arrived, she's in room 602."
Lu Liang handed over the car keys and confidently headed up to the sixth floor, booking the Spanish suite for tonight, vibrant with its passionate tropical style.
Lu Liang unlocked the door and saw a blue silhouette by the window, leaning over gracefully, admiring the Modu night view.
The blue knit dress, also known as the "blue battle uniform," hugged the figure closely, enhancing the wearer's shape.
With a gentle twist of her waist, she flawlessly displayed her shapely figure, sparking endless imaginings.
Zhang Qian fit this description perfectly; below the hem of her dress were black stockings paired with black high heels with red soles.
Lu Liang quickly walked over and embraced Zhang Qian's waist, she turned her head and asked with a smile, "What's up?"
Her response was met only with heavy breathing, but she quickly got into the mood and reacted accordingly.
The process was lengthy...
The blue knit dress also suffered from the fray; the original V-shaped neckline tore out of shape.
Afterward, Zhang Qian was drenched in sweat, her eyes closed in respite, seemingly uncurious about what had gotten into Lu Liang tonight.
"How's the fast food business going?"
Lu Liang, distracted, inquired about Zhang Qian's recent activities.
"The last storefront we rented is undergoing renovations, about twenty-five days left."
Zhang Qian, smiling, lay on Lu Liang's chest, her fingertips tracing patterns on his stomach.
"Let me know when you're opening, and I'll bring people to support you."
Zhang Qian didn't inquire, but Lu Liang felt a compulsion to speak: "Aren't you curious about what's been with me tonight?"
Zhang Qian stretched lazily with a groan, "If you want to talk, I'll listen; if you don't want to, I won't ask. But it looks like it's resolved now."
Lu Liang pinched Zhang Qian's cheeks, "It is resolved."
Suffering the favors of a beautiful lady is hard; Su Wanyu's innocence almost shattered his moral resolve.
But in that moment of abandon,
he realized he should take it all.
Hide it while you can; leave if it can't be hidden or accepted.
What do you think?
