Chapter 31: Chapter 029: So Afraid of Seeing Your Mother-in-Law?
Due to his previous illness, Xavier was not attending the evening self-study period.
Yvette went out to buy some daily necessities and returned home to see Xavier standing at the front of the stairs with a cold expression, staring at her.
Xavier questioned, “Did you and Chloe Stephens buy a villa behind our family’s back?”
Megan Gibson, who was doing handiwork in a room on the 1st floor, heard this and quickly put down her work.
“What villa?”
Megan’s voice was particularly sharp.
Xavier pointed at Yvette and said, “Granny, she bought a villa behind our backs.”
“What!
Yvette, is what Xavier says true?”
Yvonne Sullivan entered and also heard this, her eyebrows furrowing tightly.
Yvette found it strange how Xavier knew.
“Mother, there’s nothing to it.”
“There’s nothing?
Granny, it’s the villa they bought.
It was trending online.
These are screenshots from my classmates.
It’s been deleted now, she must have spent a fortune to erase any trace.”
Megan and Yvonne both looked at the villa on Xavier’s mobile phone.
Both couldn’t help but gasp upon seeing the villa in the Elegant Garden.
“You wasteful girl!
With this money used to buy the villa, it would be better if you saved it with me,” Megan raised her hand to hit Yvette.
Yvette’s face turned ugly as she dodged and grabbed a metal teapot from the dining table.
“Mom, do you believe everything you read online?”
“You still dare to fight back?
Put the teapot down.”
“Try to touch me today and see what happens,” Yvette yelled.
“You unfilial wretch…”
Megan’s eyes rolled back in anger, trembling as she pointed at Yvette.
“Granny, there is also this that I found in Chloe’s room.
Does a mentally ill person need a laptop?
Can she even use it?” Xavier took out a laptop from behind.
Yvette saw that Xavier even searched her daughter’s laptop and felt rage boiling in her chest, “Xavier, put it down.”
“I won’t put it down,” said Xavier firmly.
“Granny, I need a laptop now.
Giving it to a mental handicap is a waste.”
Megan’s face hardened.
“Xavier is right, what does Chloe need a computer for?
It’s a waste.”
“Crash!”
Yvette, furious, went to grab back the laptop.
In a struggle, the laptop fell to the floor.
At that moment, Hans Foster and Chloe entered, witnessing this scene.
Chloe walked towards them without any expression.
“Chloe.”
Yvette looked at her daughter with concern.
Her daughter’s expression made her fearful.
“You…
what are you doing…”
Xavier was also intimidated by Chloe’s appearance.
Her eyes were emotionless and cold, making people fearful.
Chloe raised her hand, grabbed Xavier, and dragged him upstairs.
“Let go of me,” Xavier struggled but couldn’t break free.
“Granny, save me, she’s crazy!”
Chloe dragged Xavier with one hand to the top floor.
Everyone else finally reacted and ran upstairs.
Upon reaching the top floor, they saw Chloe toss Xavier down from the top floor without any hesitation.
“Ah!”
“Xavier!”
“Little Xavier!”
“Chloe, don’t!”
Yvette yelled from behind.
Hans followed, dumbstruck after seeing Chloe mercilessly throw Xavier down from the building.
All actions paused for a few seconds before Megan and Yvonne rushed over to look down from the top floor.
When they saw Xavier lying amidst the garbage below, Yvonne abruptly sat down, tears streaming down her face.
Wilbert Foster happened to walk downstairs and saw his own son thrown from the top floor, dumbfounded.
“You wretched girl!
What are you doing?
That’s Xavier!” Megan yelled angrily.
Chloe didn’t even look at the old lady and turned to go downstairs.
“You, you…” Megan gasped for breath, nearly fainting.
Hans Foster watched the people passing by, not quite reacting.
That was terrifying.
She had just tried to kill someone in front of her family members.
*
“Chloe,” Yvette Foster was afraid of her daughter’s extreme behavior.
Chloe Stephens picked up the corner of the broken computer from the ground and saw Wilbert Foster holding Xavier Foster when she looked up.
At the 1st floor, ten minutes later, the whole family had gathered.
Yvonne Sullivan looked pale as she stared at her unconscious son lying on the sofa.
“So, you took the money to buy a villa?” Wilbert Foster asked Yvette Foster with a frown.
“Yes.”
“You still have the nerve to admit it, do you see what you’ve done to this family?” Megan said angrily.
“I’m sorry for Xavier’s incident on Chloe’s behalf.”
“A sorry is enough?
Look at what your brain-dead daughter has done to scare Xavier.
If not for him being okay, I would never have let her off.” Megan was so angry that her words became sharp.
“Shut up,” Fred Foster yelled angrily, “If Xavier hadn’t acted recklessly, would Chloe have done that?
You lot spoiled a good kid.
In my opinion, it serves him right to learn a lesson by getting hurt.”
Megan widened her eyes in disbelief, “Xavier is our own grandson, and you are siding with outsiders.”
“Now we are talking about right and wrong, look at what the child did to Chloe first.”
“Dad, even if Xavier was in the wrong, Chloe cannot be so extreme.
She almost killed Xavier,” Wilbert Foster glared at Chloe Stephens with a sick expression.
“Old man, didn’t you hear?
Both mother and daughter hid from us to buy a villa, only caring for their enjoyment.
These ungrateful people are infuriating.
So what if she took her computer, did she have to try to kill Xavier?”
“Yvette, did you really buy a villa?” Wilbert Foster was unhappy.
When Wilbert Foster had asked Yvette for support earlier, she had claimed poverty, but she had gone ahead and bought a villa.
“I bought it, is there a problem?”
Chloe opened the computer, it could still run.
“Chloe, where did you get the money to buy a villa?” Wilbert Foster became even more unhappy.
Yvette had a child take the blame for what she had done.
Chloe raised her cold eyes: “What’s it to you?”
“What did you say?” Wilbert Foster was taken aback, his eyes widened.
Chloe stood up and said to Yvette: “The villa’s location has been exposed online.
We have to change the house.
I’ve had people look into it already.
We’ll go and handle the procedures tomorrow at noon.”
Yvette watched her daughter in a daze.
Having said that, Chloe went upstairs.
Ignoring him, Wilbert Foster’s face became even grimmer.
“Yvette, you have to explain this to us,” Megan yelled angrily.
*
At noon the next day.
Yvette stood outside the school gate with a bag, waiting for Chloe.
A car was parked not far away.
Ethan Coates held the steering wheel, looking out the window at the scene and teasing, “Young Master Hawthorne, are you so afraid of meeting your mother-in-law?
This isn’t your style.”
Len Hawthorne glanced at him: “If you can’t talk, shut up.”
Chloe came out quickly.
Len sent her a message saying he couldn’t go with her.
For procedural issues, let the attorney accompany her there for inspection.
Chloe put away her mobile phone and went over.
“Chloe, are we really buying a villa?
Your four million dollars…”
“It’s enough.”
“Mom meant to say, you should keep it for yourself, in case you have urgent use for it later.”
“Elegant Garden paid a lot of compensation, as well as the Williams Family and the Griffin Family.”
“Compensation?”
Seeing Yvette not knowing what happened online, Chloe said, “It’s nothing.”
“When I left, your grandmother was still cursing.
Your grandfather is fed up and wants to return to the countryside to recuperate.
He wants you to go back to the village with him on Saturday to worship the deity.
Last time, your grandfather went back to the village and prayed for you.
This time, it is like repaying a vow.”
Chloe raised her eyebrows.
She agreed still.
What do you think?
