Chapter 637: 460, Crushing, Lin Da headed to the top floor
In the hall, the adventurers of South Rock City glared at Lin Da furiously, unwilling to even blink and moisturize their dry eyes lest they appear weak.
It seemed as though shifting their gaze would mean admitting defeat.
“A bunch of trash! At a time like this, it’s still up to me!”
Pick’s flunky, the buck-toothed man, cursed inwardly.
Seizing the moment Lin Da was distracted, he dashed upstairs to seek help.
The Sunrise Level members were all up there.
Before long, a middle-aged swordsman with a sword at his waist and short brown hair came downstairs with a sullen face.
“Young Master?”
The swordsman supported Pick, and as he saw the other’s face stained with tears and snot, a flash of contempt crossed his eyes.
But, no matter how pathetic, this person was the leader’s only son.
Hurting Pick—there was no way they could let the offender leave easily.
“Dewey, hurry, teach that kid a lesson! He not only insulted and beat me but also stole my Aiko!”
Pick hid behind Dewey and shouted with apparent ferocity but inward timidity.
“Young Master, rest assured, those who offend the Zijing Stone Family will pay a price.”
With Dewey’s words, everyone in the hall breathed a sigh of relief.
They were finally spared from having to deal with Lin Da themselves.
“Dewey, show that kid the difference between Moon rank adventurers!” a robust man laughed heartily.
The gap between ranks was not something that a few skills could bridge.
But, what many didn’t know was this.
It had only been one night since Lin Da had killed Augutuo.
South Rock City and White Dove City were quite a distance apart; even flying, Lin Da took a whole day to travel.
In other words, most of the adventurers present were unaware that Lin Da had defeated Augutuo… Their impression of Lin Da remained that of the “genius adventurer who had defeated ‘[Power King] Slo’.”
“[Earth’s Fluctuation] Dewey, a moon rank swordsman who became famous over ten years ago, seems to be level 43! His innate skill ‘Rhythm of the Earth’ allows him to sense the opponent’s movements in real time and counterattack.”
“Damn Ultimate Pervert, I’ll record your disgraceful episode and submit it to the South Rock City Gazette!”
“A mere freshly promoted Moon rank, what right do you have to be so arrogant?”
The crowd cheered on, rooting for Dewey.
The two at the center of the event, Lin Da and Aiko, seemed not to worry in the slightest.
Aiko, seeing Lin Da let go of her hand and stubbornly prepare to stay, was slightly taken aback.
The competitive spirit between males was something female adventurers found hard to understand. However, in public places, Aiko was willing to acquiesce to Lin Da’s will.
She stood on tiptoes and whispered in Lin Da’s ear: “That person’s name is Dewey, level 43 Moon rank, his innate skill is…”
Aiko poured all the information about Dewey into Lin Da’s ears.
“Hmm, not a concern,” Lin Da nodded and said, “If it were Captain Lorrace, it would be somewhat troublesome.”
“Hehe, the air is dry in summer, adventurers easily get irritable, especially the young ones,” Dewey said with a right hand on the hilt of his sword and a cold laugh, “Let me, [Earth’s Fluctuation] Dewey, cool you off.”
“Go on, teach that brat a lesson!” Pick said, wiping the blood off his face with a look of loathing.
“On it.”
Dewey gave a low shout.
Whoosh—
In an instant, earthy yellow Battle Qi erupted.
Dewey’s speed was so swift he left afterimages, and his terrifying aura rose up like a small hill.
The chandelier on the ceiling swayed in the breeze he had created, oscillating in the space!
Yet Lin Da remained calm, and with a flash of light in his hand, a purple longsword engraved with a Magic Snake appeared.
Using the sheathed sword like a cudgel, he struck Dewey with it.
“What is that?”
The overwhelming Magic Power that met him head-on caused Dewey’s face to change drastically!
If his Battle Qi was a small hill, then Lin Da’s strike was akin to a lumberjack’s axe.
Dewey had the premonition that his Life Barrier was as fragile as a candle in the wind.
Lin Da was as fast as lightning; Dewey only felt a sharp pain in his chest, followed by the sound of cracking bones. It seemed a shattered bone might have pierced his organs.
Dewey’s focus was entirely on his attack; he had no time to reinforce his defense. Struck by Lin Da’s sword scabbard, he was like a punching bag hit by a rhino, instantly spewing fresh blood and flying backward, crashing into a wall with a loud bang.
In the hotel’s hall, the silver chandelier creaked, swaying but not yet settled.
The instigator, however, was silent and motionless, having ceased his action first.
The crowd stared dumbfounded at the scene before them.
Dewey, half buried in the wall, legs visible on the outside, and beside him, a pale-faced Pick.
“What happened? What just happened?” a middle-aged man with slicked-back hair, holding a Recording Stone, muttered to himself.
He wasn’t the only one confused.
All the adventurers in the hall were puzzled.
Dewey, a 43-level [Earth’s Fluctuation] was sent flying by the leader of a newly promoted Moon rank adventure team with a single strike.
Was this normal?
No one could have anticipated the battle would end in the span of a second.
And the most shocked of all was Dewey himself.
Covering his chest, he crawled out of the wall, coughing up blood and looking at the purple longsword in Lin Da’s hand with apprehension.
Legendary Weapon.
Only a Legendary Weapon could bridge the gap between their levels!
“Dewey, are you up to the task or not?” Pick trembled.
“Young Master, keep quiet for now,” Dewey said irritably.
If he had known Lin Da possessed a Legendary Weapon, he would never have gotten involved in this mess!
Such weapons could grow stronger with their owners, and given time, the Phoenix Tail Flower Adventure Team Lin Da led could become a power on par with the Zijing Stone Family.
This was not a matter for Dewey, a mere team member, to decide.
He would have to wait for the meeting upstairs to end and inform Captain Lorrace of the incident, letting Lorrace make the decision himself.
What do you think?
