Chapter 107: Chapter 107: How Do You Know Things That I Don’t?
Li Jianbin, although older, was still the chairman of Li Group, and he would reference some significant decisions. He went to the company every day, while Su Huimiao lived alone in the vast mansion, enjoying playing cards in her spare time.
Every few days, a group of card players would visit the house.
But Li Jianbin detested her playing cards, so she played in secret.
After Shen Jiangqing’s car parked, she led Chengcheng out of the car.
The security guard saw them arriving and immediately approached respectfully, “Miss Shen and Young Master Chengcheng are here?”
“Where’s mom?” Shen Jiangqing had long started calling her mother-in-law ‘mom,’ and the servants had naturally accepted her as the Young Madam.
“Today is Saturday. The lady’s card-playing friends are all staying home with their husbands and sons. The lady went to the garden to watch the gardener planting flowers,” the servant cheerfully replied.
Shen Jiangqing’s eyes flickered, and she grabbed a pile of gifts from the trunk and headed to the back garden.
At that moment, Su Huimiao was directing the gardener to plant the roses as grand and beautiful as possible, her commanding manner lacking the elegance of a noble lady but carrying a hint of the sharpness of common folk.
Shen Jiangqing quite despised her future mother-in-law. She couldn’t understand how Li Jianbin could marry such a woman.
But such a narrow-minded person was easier to handle.
“Mom, I brought Chengcheng to see you.”
Su Huimiao turned her head, saw her beloved grandson, and smiled broadly. She scolded, “If you’re coming, just come. Why bring so many gifts? Dear grandson, come let grandma hug you.”
Chengcheng walked over like a little gentleman, letting her hug him gracefully.
“Grandma looks so pretty today.”
“Old and pretty…” Su Huimiao touched her face, smiling.
Chengcheng sweetly said, “Grandma doesn’t look old at all. If you go shopping with mommy, I’m sure many people would think you are mommy’s sister.”
No woman dislikes being complimented on her looks, and Su Huimiao was no exception. Her heart felt sweeter than if she had drunk honey.
Seeing that Chengcheng had won over Su Huimiao, Shen Jiangqing cheerfully said, “I’m just offering Buddha with borrowed flowers. This is the ginseng Aling bought recently, thinking it would be good for your health.”
“You really are thoughtful…” Su Huimiao was pleased. She then remembered to ask, “By the way, where is Chen Bao? Why didn’t you bring him along?”
She hadn’t considered at all that Doudou was also her grandchild.
A chill flashed in Shen Jiangqing’s eyes. She sighed, then hesitated before saying, “Chen Bao… I wanted to bring him to see you, but…”
“What happened to him?” Su Huimiao asked hastily.
“I was afraid it might anger you.”
“Just tell me! This grandson has just been brought back, and he grew up in that kind of environment, he must have many bad habits…” Su Huimiao said magnanimously.
Shen Jiangqing then bit her lip and said, “Mom, Chen Bao took Doudou to Ning Yichu’s place!”
“What?” Su Huimiao’s eyebrows knitted in anger, “Why is she always involved? What does she want by taking my grandson and granddaughter away?”
“Mom, calm down, here’s what happened—Lady Ning asked Ningning to transfer to Saint Peter to study. I was worried it might influence Doudou and Chengcheng, so I had the school reject the application. But then… then Aling went and crippled the director I had approached, even got his older brother thrown into jail, and now he’s saying that Ningning will start school next week as planned! Because of this, Aling didn’t even join me for breakfast yesterday; he just took the kids and left. Mom, I really don’t know what to do…”
Shen Jiangqing spoke very elegantly, without mentioning how Director Zhang had bullied Yichu, which immediately made Su Huimiao’s face sour.
“That bastard! Neglecting his own children, and he goes off caring about that little bastard? Doudou and Chen Bao, too, how could they be deceived by that little girl?”
Shen Jiangqing said with a look of regret, “I’ve met Ningning, and she’s a well-behaved, sensible child. Maybe she’s just influenced by other factors.”
“What other influence could there be? Like mother, like daughter! I knew it from the start that Yichu was trouble. Look, it’s been five years since the divorce, and she’s still clinging to my son…” Su Huimiao said furiously.
“Ah, I also really want to take care of Chen Bao, but he spends all his time with Ningning. I want to pamper him, but he just ignores me,” Shen Jiangqing said, biting her lower lip and looking aggrieved.
Su Huimiao thought for a moment, “I’ll call Aling later and make him promise that little bastard won’t be Chengcheng’s classmate. Isn’t that just leading them astray?”
Shen Jiangqing held back thin tears and nodded—this was her last resort.
At noon, Shen Jiangqing hadn’t left. She focused on keeping Su Huimiao company along with Chengcheng.
Meanwhile, not far from the Junyue Mansion, in a small children’s playground.
The children were thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Chen Bao used the excuse that Ningning was starting a new school tomorrow and had a lot to prepare, and hurried to find Ningning.
Li Lingyang just watched coldly but did not stop him.
He knew there was no use in stopping him.
He wanted to see how long this brat’s novelty would last.
But what he hadn’t expected was that Doudou would also choose to run off to Junyue Mansion with Chen Bao, leaving Chengcheng behind.
Of course, being the most sensible among the children, Chengcheng certainly wouldn’t join Chen Bao and Doudou in their mischief.
Li Lingyang was slightly annoyed, feeling like the household and the children were all falling apart.
Then, his phone rang. Seeing it was Su Huimiao, he hesitated for a moment before answering, “Mom?”
“Son, it’s the weekend, and there’s not much going on at your office. Why not bring the kids over to see me?” Su Huimiao’s voice rang out, sounding a bit reproachful.
Li Lingyang’s deep gaze fell on Yichu and the children’s figures not far away, and he responded grimly, “I’ll visit next week.”
“Humph, don’t think I’m senile. I’ve heard all about it, you actually agree with Ningning and the children being in the same school? You know that child is from Yichu cuckolding you. She might have inherited her mother’s cunning—so young but already sly-looking. What if she corrupts my dear grandson’s morals in the future?”
Even though Ningning wasn’t his biological daughter, Li Lingyang’s tone sharpened when he heard Su Huimiao describe Ningning with such venomous words, “Did Jiangqing tell you that?”
“Do I need someone to say it? You got Director Zhang’s brother and his wife in jail, I just asked around casually and found out, didn’t I?”
Li Lingyang’s narrow eyes squinted slightly, hinting at danger, “I myself don’t even know when I got people thrown in jail, and you know better?”
Su Huimiao suddenly fell silent on the other end, and after a moment, the rustling sound came through, her words hesitant, “Well, Jiangqing meant well, you know. As the mother of the children, she naturally wants them to grow up in a pure environment. Besides, Chen Bao and Doudou are always with Ningning, who’s to say Yichu isn’t pulling strings?”
What do you think?
