Chapter 1144 1144: Don't Drink
Zhouzhou coaxed Ancestral Master for quite a while before finally calming him down.
As soon as they were about to board the plane, they rushed to the study. The atmosphere was tense, with everyone wearing serious expressions. Zhouzhou even dragged Qin Lie along.
Seeing Qin Lie, Ye Lingfeng's mood soured.
"Why did you call him? I already said I'd handle this matter. He can't be better than me!" Ye Lingfeng was visibly displeased, feeling that his daughter didn't trust him.
Zhouzhou quickly tried to smooth things over. "Sharp Tongue Daddy, don't be mad. The more people, the more hands, right?"
She was also trying to play her cards right. Her dad had successfully managed such a large company, so if they were to establish a specialized organization, it wouldn't hurt to ask him for advice.
This only made Ye Lingfeng more upset.
Every time Qin Lie was here, he automatically became the Sharp Tongue Daddy.
Tsk, that little scoundrel!
He couldn't believe that after all these years, his daughter hadn't changed. She still preferred Qin Lie over him. How ridiculous!
He crossed his arms and glared at Qin Lie, sizing him up with jealousy.
Zhouzhou, pretending not to notice, kept her focus on Qin Lie. "Dad, so, what's next?"
Qin Lie smirked and spoke confidently. "Starting a company requires capital and qualifications, but those aren't the real challenges. The process of acquiring the necessary qualifications can be handled by Ye Lingfeng."
He looked toward Ye Lingfeng, knowing that in this area, he was far more capable. Just a few words and the matter would be done.
Ye Lingfeng sneered. "I already said that. Why are we even bothering to ask him?"
He glanced at Zhouzhou, wondering if there was really a need to go over the same points.
Zhouzhou, a bit guilty, didn't dare look him in the eye. Explaining would only lead to more trouble. When her dad was in one of his moods, it was difficult to deal with him. She had learned long ago to avoid angering him.
So, she feigned ignorance, asking, "Dad, what's next?"
Qin Lie's eyes glimmered with amusement as he spoke. "Once the company is established, the next problem is finding talent and resources. You don't need to worry about resources; just let the police transfer the relevant cases. But the key issue is talent, as well as the mode of cooperation. You need a clear structure, especially on who will lead. My suggestion is that the organization you create should have some autonomy to avoid conflicts."
He turned his gaze toward Ye Lingfeng, who also needed to take care of this matter.
Ye Lingfeng rolled his eyes. "So, everything gets dumped on me. Why did we even bother asking Qin Lie?!"
Zhouzhou cleared her throat, trying to steer the conversation back on track. "Dad, what do you think is the most important thing?"
"People." Qin Lie answered without hesitation. "You need people who not only have skills but also can control the others. The more capable someone is, the more likely they are to have a temper and may not cooperate easily."
This was an important point. Talking about the people from the Mystery Sect, those who were con men and swindlers weren't important, but the real masters could be hard to deal with, and some would never agree to cooperate unless they were begged.
Zhouzhou stroked her chin thoughtfully. "I can ask my Senior Uncle for help. He has some capable people."
The Ninth Bureau under Tang Qing was composed of skilled Mystery Sect members, and they already worked with the police. But after dealing with the Enchanting Bug incident, Zhouzhou realized that wasn't enough. They also needed people who knew other things.
Qin Lie nodded. "That's a good idea. With your Senior Uncle, it'll be easy to negotiate. Besides, you could also train some people at Sanqing Temple. Ultimately, you want to develop the Mystery Sect, but also make Sanqing Temple stand out on its own."
Zhouzhou tilted her head, deep in thought. "Dad, do you mean my master?"
"Exactly," Qin Lie affirmed, impressed by her sharpness. "I remember that your master has taught quite a few people. They probably still visit him if they have time, right?"
He was referring to the group of swindlers Zhouzhou had sent up the mountain to study under Li Yuanming. After they completed their training, she let them go back to continue their business.
Zhouzhou snapped her fingers. "Right! Even though my master isn't that great himself, he's really good at teaching others."
She remembered how lonely her master had seemed the last time she visited. He must have felt isolated. If he had disciples around, things would surely feel less lonely.
The more she thought about it, the more she felt it was a good idea. "I'll talk to my master about it tomorrow!"
"Don't rush," Qin Lie shook his head slightly. "Let's focus on building the organization first."
Hearing this, Zhouzhou turned to Ye Lingfeng, her eyes wide with anticipation.
Ye Lingfeng put on a stern face, not willing to speak.
However, Zhouzhou clung to his arm, calling out "Dad" repeatedly, softening him up. He could never resist her when she was like this.
He finally gave in, sighing in frustration. "You always bully me!"
She only called on him when there was something to do, but when there wasn't, her heart was full of Qin Lie. Ye Lingfeng's jealousy made his face twist with frustration.
Zhouzhou played innocent. "Dad, you're my favorite. How could I bully you? I'm even going to take care of you when you're old!"
Yeah, he knew how that would go. She would probably compare him to Qin Lie when the time came.
He'd rather be on a mission than deal with Qin Lie!
Coincidentally, Qin Lie felt the same way. Seeing Ye Lingfeng's face was enough to annoy him. He might as well focus on making money for his daughter instead.
After some playful back-and-forth, Ye Lingfeng finally got down to business. He didn't leave, still watching them both, and made a call.
Less than three minutes later, he hung up, only giving the other person a chance to say "okay."
Zhouzhou looked at him with shining eyes. "Wow, you're amazing!"
Seeing her expression, Ye Lingfeng couldn't help but feel a little smug and looked at Qin Lie.
Qin Lie ignored him. He was too old for this childish behavior.
Turning to Zhouzhou, Qin Lie asked, "Are you staying here, or going back to the mountain?"
Zhouzhou remembered something else. "I'll stay here for a few days. Oh, dad, where's Sixth Brother?"
She had almost forgotten about him. Oh no, Sixth Brother wasn't becoming a lovestruck fool, was he?
"He's out having fun. Why?" Ye Lingfeng asked.
Zhouzhou panicked. "I hope he hasn't been cursed!" She quickly rushed out of the room. "Dad, I'm going to find Sixth Brother. I'll talk to you later!"
She dashed off in a hurry.
At that moment, Sixth Brother, Qin Bei, was at a restaurant. He had recently taken on a new role in a drama, and the cast had planned a dinner together.
Bored, he was fiddling with his phone when a girl walked over. She was holding a bottle of wine and nervously said, "Qin Bei, I'd like to toast to you."
Qin Bei looked up and saw it was the second female lead of the drama. Since they were colleagues, he didn't refuse and nodded.
She poured him a drink, but just as he was about to take it, he thought he saw something flash in the glass. It looked like a bug.
He rubbed his eyes, thinking he was imagining things.
He shook his head and accepted the drink, preparing to down it.
Suddenly, the door crashed open. A loud, urgent voice shouted, "Don't drink it!"
What do you think?
