Chapter 170: Primary MagicRecovery Potion!
Currently, Raymond's "Forging" skill was only at the first stage, meaning he couldn't add special effects to equipment yet. To upgrade it, he needed three more "skill points."
But Raymond wasn't focused on upgrading "Forging" for now. Once he had plenty of money, he could craft the equipment himself and then ask skilled craftsmen, who had reached the second stage of "Forging," to add the special effects.
The "dwarf craftsman" Greytor is one of the artisans who has mastered the second stage of "forging."
However, it was still too early to dwell on such matters. Who could say what changes might arise by the time they reached that point?
Soon, Raymond and Arya carried the eight herbs for the "Primary Magic Recovery Potion" upstairs to the pharmacy.
The pharmacy had been converted from an unused room. Initially, Raymond used to refine the potions in the utility room, but since he exercised there every morning and there was an empty room on the second floor, they decided to transform that space into an alchemy room.
The room was lined with shelves full of glass medicine tubes, and there was a long table in the center. Raymond placed the chopping board with the eight herbs on the table, then moved over to a shelf to take a row of glass medicine tubes.
Arya decided to watch him work.
Although she had seen Raymond refine the potion countless times before, she never grew tired of it. Perhaps, she just liked watching the process, silently thinking, "Eight silver coins, eight silver coins." Each vial of "Primary Magic Recovery Potion" was worth a silver coin, and right now, their need for money was dire.
At that moment, as Raymond reached for a large water cup on the table to fill the glass medicine tubes, he realized it was empty. Just as he was about to get the water himself, Arya quickly stepped in to grab the cup.
"I can do it, you just focus on preparing the 'Primary Magic Recovery Potion'!" she said, already darting off with the cup, excited to fetch water from the second-floor bathroom.
Raymond smiled, shaking his head in amusement.
Every time he was about to make the potion, Arya always seemed so eager, almost as if it were a little ritual for her.
Not long after, Arya returned with the full cup. "Here you go, Raymond, the water's ready."
"Thanks," Raymond replied, taking the cup with a smile.
He then began filling the eight glass medicine tubes one by one, pouring water until each was half full. Next, he picked up the herbs from the chopping board that Arya had washed and cut, carefully placing them into the tubes, one by one. Soon, all the herbs were inside the tubes.
Although Arya had witnessed this process many times before and could easily help, she chose to watch instead. She seemed to enjoy the sight of Raymond's hands at work, always so careful and focused.
Raymond noticed her again, seeing her serious and yet endearing expression as she watched him. He couldn't help but smile.
"Oh, don't just stare at me, hurry and make the potion!" he teased.
Blushing slightly when he turned his gaze toward her, Arya hurriedly urged, "Okay, okay! I know!"
Raymond chuckled and shook his head, then turned his attention back to the medicine tubes. He extended his hands slowly, focusing on the first tube. His expression grew serious as he softly whispered, "Refine!"
As his words echoed in the room, his hands began to glow with a soft blue light. After a few moments, the blue glow faded, and the water and herbs inside the glass tube had vanished, replaced by a light blue liquid that filled the tube to about two-thirds.
This was, of course, the "Primary Magic Recovery Potion."
Raymond picked up the tube, carefully inspecting the clear, blue liquid. After confirming its quality, he nodded with satisfaction, pleased that the potion's effectiveness remained intact.
Since Raymond began refining the "Primary Magic Recovery Potion," he had yet to experience a single failure or any loss of potency.
There are only two reasons why a pharmacist might fail in potion refining or lose its efficacy:
1. The herbs used could be of poor quality, with their potency already diminished, which would result in a potion with reduced effectiveness.
2. The refinement process could have been improperly followed, causing certain materials to deteriorate.
Raymond carefully stored the first "Primary Magic Recovery Potion" and then began refining the second one.
As he continued to refine each potion, it wasn't long before the final vial of "Primary Magic Recovery Potion" was completed.
"Raymond, you're amazing!" Arya cheered as she watched the last bottle being finished.
"Alright, it's done. Time to rest," Raymond said, stretching his shoulders. He then turned to Arya and added, "Don't forget, I'll be teaching you close combat tomorrow."
Arya's eyes sparkled. "I'll be waiting! Make sure you teach me well."
"Don't worry," Raymond said with a grin, "Although I haven't taught you yet, I'm now a multi-professional with ten different occupations. I know all the strengths and weaknesses, so teaching you will be a piece of cake."
"Hehe... That sounds wonderful!" Arya smiled.
The two then returned to their rooms to rest and prepare for the training the following day.
Later, Raymond lay on his bed and opened his panel to check his status:

Raymond smiled as he looked at the long list of new skills.
With a sigh, he muttered to himself, "Such a pity, no skill points to learn anything right now."
"I'll go ahead and help you wash these herbs."
Arya entered the kitchen with a cloth bag, emptied the herbs into the sink, and began washing them.
She didn't mind this task at all. Having been idle for a while, she didn't want to be the kind of person who did nothing but relied on Raymond for everything.
Although she had relied on Raymond in the past, she still wanted to help him as much as she could.
Especially since Raymond made money by refining the "Primary Magic Recovery Potion," she felt it was only right to help with washing the herbs.
Raymond didn't join Arya at the sink. He knew she wouldn't let him help, and he understood her reasoning, so he let her handle it herself.
Washing the herbs wasn't a difficult task. She simply added water to make them float and quickly swished each herb a few times in the water. There was no need to pick them apart or clean them leaf by leaf.
And since the herbs had already been purified during the potion refinement process, there was little concern about any remaining bacteria.
The cleaning was mostly to remove dirt and dust, which didn't have to be perfect. After all, a little dirt wouldn't harm them, and it could even be beneficial for digestion.
Soon enough, Arya had finished cleaning all the herbs.
But she didn't stop there, she grabbed the kitchen knife and began chopping the herbs into small pieces for the potion.
This was something Arya had done many times, so it was no challenge for her. She even divided the herbs into eight portions based on their weight.
"Raymond, I'm done!" Arya said, showing him the eight portions on the chopping board.
Raymond smiled warmly and replied, "Thanks for your hard work."
Arya shook her head, grinning. "Hehe... It's no trouble! We still owe Sylph and Lorene eight gold coins each. If it weren't for you making these 'Primary Magic Recovery Potions,' we might not know when we'd be able to pay them back!"
Raymond smiled faintly.
Indeed, the rewards from their current 'Black Iron Level' missions were minimal for a team of their strength.
Of course, this was relative, since their strength had progressed so quickly and their equipment was strong enough to support them at the 'Bronze Level,' they considered the rewards to be small.
But that also meant they wouldn't need to upgrade their gear for a long time and could wait until they reached the 'Silver Level' to make changes.
What do you think?
