Accidentally Married to the Big Shot

Chapter 204 - 204 204 Yuanyuan Joins Su Meixi

Chapter 204: Chapter 204: Yuanyuan Joins Su Meixi Chapter 204: Chapter 204: Yuanyuan Joins Su Meixi Fang Xia and Fang Shuai exchanged glances.

As orphans of martyrs, the team naturally valued their birthdays, so no matter which family they were in, they would always have their birthdays arranged.

But the celebration was limited to eating longevity noodles, having birthday cake, receiving gifts; inviting friends over was less common since it would inconvenience the other members of the family, and, after all, they weren’t their own children. It seemed enough just to have a ceremonial sense, no need for a large fuss.

Fang Xia looked at Su Meixi in surprise, “Aunt Su, then can I… invite many friends over?”

Su Meixi smiled, “It depends on how many you want to invite. You can invite all the friends you want to invite, and Fang Shuai, if you have some very good friends, you can invite them too with your sister’s agreement. Just give me the list later, and I’ll go purchase the supplies.”

The siblings were thrilled to hear this.

They really wanted a party where only children would play together.

After eating, the siblings excitedly discussed whom to invite.

Today, Su Meixi was preparing to buy the things needed for Fang Xia’s birthday. Fang Xia planned to invite five good friends, and Fang Shuai also had three good friends, thanks to his sister. Su Meixi decided not to cook as the kids all liked fried chicken and fries; she would order takeout to let them have fun and to give herself a break.

However, she had to decorate the house a bit, hanging some colorful lights and balloons to add to the atmosphere.

As she was doing this, the security guard called her to say that there were visitors and asked her to come out to confirm and register.

Su Meixi became curious—who could it be?

She had no other friends in Yun City, let alone in the entire city, only a few heartfelt friends.

She reached the entrance of the community and saw Zhou Yuan.

She was pulling a large suitcase, her hair tied into two braids hanging in front of her—both cute and haggard.

“Yuanyuan? How did you come here?”

As she went to greet her, she explained to the security guard, “This is my sister-in-law, and naturally, Gu Wei’s sister-in-law as well.”

The guard expressed his surprise, “Such a young sister-in-law?”

“Gu Wei isn’t old either, so it’s natural the sister-in-law is younger,” Su Meixi said with a smile.

Registration went smoothly and was done quickly.

Su Meixi took the suitcase from Zhou Yuan and held her hand, “Yuanyuan, did you come here alone?”

“Yes,” Zhou Yuan said. “I had already returned to my parents’ home. At that time, my mother advised me not to be so impulsive and just follow Gu Cheng back. I didn’t listen, so now I find it awkward to go back, and I had to come to you, the only person I can rely on now.”

Su Meixi asked, “Is Gu Cheng back with Li Zhen again?”

She had often heard Zhou Yuan complain about this, and since Li Zhen was also Qiu Yurou’s adopted daughter, Su Meixi remembered her name.

“Li Zhen said she fell down the stairs. Gu Cheng told me to wait at home for him, saying he would return soon after checking on her, but I waited until the next morning and he hadn’t come back, so I packed up and left.”

Zhou Yuan’s phone had been off until now; she took a high-speed train which took over ten hours, and she had stayed one night in Kun City before arriving.

Su Meixi couldn’t help scolding her, “You should have taken a plane at least. Think about how much you’ve suffered on the road, and you’re pregnant. What if something happened to the baby?”

Zhou Yuan said, “Sister Su, I don’t want to do anything right now, just want to sleep well.”

“Alright, then come home with me.”

Su Meixi took Zhou Yuan home.

Zhou Yuan actually liked the Military District a lot as well. “This place is really nice, feels like stepping into a movie, back to a truly innocent era.”

Su Meixi smiled, “Yes, the world here is different from the outside society. Living here, you don’t have to worry about anything.”

Once inside, Zhou Yuan saw the balloons and colorful lights in the house and asked in confusion, “Are there other children living here?”

“Yes, two martyrs’ orphans. They will be living in my house this month, and next month they will move to another family.”

“So Sister Su, you have to take care of children too. Do you have another room for me then?”

Su Meixi apologetically said, “Either you can stay in the same room with me, or there’s a small room downstairs. It’s quite small, I’m afraid you’ll be uncomfortable.”

Zhou Yuan checked the small room and said, “It doesn’t matter, as long as it fits me. Also, just don’t make me do any housework, I’m pregnant now.”

“Does Gu Cheng know about your pregnancy?”

“I haven’t told him yet.”

Su Meixi couldn’t help saying, “Gu Cheng is really careless. His wife is four months pregnant, and he’s still meeting his ex-girlfriend.”

Zhou Yuan said, “I’m thinking about getting a divorce.”

“Don’t talk about angry things, it hasn’t come to that yet.”

Su Meixi prepared the small room downstairs with new sheets and blankets, arranged Zhou Yuan’s luggage, and put away her belongings in a makeshift wardrobe, then heated some dumplings for her to eat before letting her sleep.

Zhou Yuan was indeed exhausted; she fell asleep as soon as she lay down.

Su Meixi closed the door and sat on the sofa outside for a while.

She was analyzing Zhou Yuan’s decision to leave home.

Zhou Yuan had just said she had returned to her parents’ home once, as Gu Cheng had promised not to contact Li Zhen, and only then she followed him back.

However, something happened to Li Zhen—falling down the stairs. It’s possible she did it on purpose, as injuries from falling down stairs can vary in severity, and one couldn’t control how badly one gets hurt. Therefore, Gu Cheng had no choice but to stay longer at the hospital.

But it was really inappropriate for Gu Cheng to go; even Gu Wei would have been a better choice.

Thus, Gu Cheng really was going too far.

She had just been thinking for a while when Gu Cheng’s call suddenly came.

“Ah Xi, has Yuanyuan contacted you?” Gu Cheng asked.

Su Meixi glanced at the room where Zhou Yuan was sleeping, then said, “Yes.”

“Do you know where she is?”

“Aren’t you with your ex-girlfriend?” Su Meixi asked. “How do you have the time to look for her?”

Gu Cheng surprisingly asked, “Do you all think I did something wrong?”

“There are cameras at your house, right? I suggest you check how she got injured. Figure that out, then think about whether you did something wrong!” Su Meixi hung up the phone without any courtesy.

Gu Cheng was taken aback.

There were indeed cameras at Li Zhen’s place because she needed to watch the live feed of her daughter, Jenny, while she was at work, as only the nanny was at home with her.

Realizing this, Gu Cheng hurried to Li Zhen’s place.

Li Zhen hadn’t been discharged from the hospital yet, and the nanny was playing cards with Jenny.

Seeing Gu Cheng enter, the nanny wanted to get him some water, but he first checked the cameras.

These types of cameras included an SD card which could be directly viewed on a mobile or extracted and watched on a computer.

Seeing Gu Cheng remove the SD card, the nanny visibly became anxious.

Gu Cheng inserted the card into his laptop’s storage slot and adjusted the time to the night of Li Zhen’s accident.

However, the footage from that day seemed to have been edited; it didn’t show the scene of Li Zhen’s accident at all.

He glanced at the nanny; her expression seemed relieved.
