Chapter 338 338: Does Ryuk Care Enough? 2
"I..."
"Because it's been feeling like that a lot, you know."
"I'm always the one calling."
"I'm always the one texting."
"And It's just starting to feel like I'm just bothering you."
"No, Morgaine. Listen, I really..."
"Is there something you hate about me, Ryuk?"
"Something that makes you try to keep your distance and make every presence short but your absence very long?"
"No, there isn't. I swear to—"
"Then why do I feel like you wouldn't mind me slipping out of your grasp?"
"Like you wouldn't care if I left or stayed?"
Morgaine asked as Ryuk tried to say something, but under Morgaine's glassy stare, all words just seemed to have been lost.
And then—
PPPIIIING
The call was disconnected as the screen was switched off, and all Ryuk could see was his own cold reflection—a face that seemed to have gotten colder than he remembered it.
In the next instant—
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
The ground beneath Ryuk caved in massively as his body shot into the sky.
And then—
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP
Another powerful shockwave rippled outward as about 20 rings of air appeared in the sky.
Ryuk shot into the distance with horrific speed, space ripping apart from pure power.
In an instant, he had reached Mach 20, and in the next instant, Ryuk blinked.
"Activate NanoAbyssal Transformation."
Immediately, veins of nanobots covered up his body, as his form began rapidly changing mid-flight, adapting to the air pressure that gnawed past his body.
His power level shot through the roof.
And then—
DROOOOOOOOOOOONNNEE
For two seconds, Ryuk's body seemed to halt in the air before—
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP
A sound ten times louder than the first echoed out as Ryuk shot through the world with a speed imperceivable to naked eyes.
The rings behind him, which were at a total of 30, increased to a total of 75!
Meaning he was traveling at a jaw-dropping Mach 75 speed as he burst through the world with power.
He was so fast that nothing on the ground was able to see him, yet the entire city witnessed a horrific blast of unseen air that raved through the entire world, sending some buildings tilting to the side.
A powerful tsunami of air raged through the streets, eliciting yelps of shock from those below.
But the tsunami was gone just as fast as it came, leaving the people in a state of shock, wondering if what had happened was real or just an illusion.
"Isha!?"
Ryuk called in his mind, and the voice came in.
"Yoopie, Ryuk. What's up?"
"Look, you won't believe what I found in—"
"Get back to my side."
In the next instant, a colossal rift appeared in the air, 10,000 meters before Ryuk.
He blinked in the next instant as he appeared below it.
From within, Isha's own huge body emerged, her eyes widened in shock.
But it hadn't even been a second before she witnessed Ryuk passing by her side, his voice ringing in her ears.
"Activate King's Aura!"
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
A powerful burst of aura rang out as space began gravely destabilizing around them, forming into a black hole that slowly absorbed both Isha and Ryuk.
Their power suddenly burst up twice its normal power.
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP
But in the next instant, the black hole was split into two as a humanoid figure burst out of it.
Isha flapped her four wings at once, and in the next instant, a total of 100 circular rings appeared behind her as she shot forward with horrific speed into the distance.
Behind her, sitting, was Ryuk, whose hands were pressed onto her back, runic lines emanating from his palms and entering into her.
From their initial speed of Mach 73, Ryuk's speed—after passing his power to Isha and activating King's Aura—had gone straight into Mach 100, and it continued increasing.
In less than 50 seconds—
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
Ryuk's eyes sighted the deep blue sea, surrounding a mountain. Isha faded from underneath him as he fell downward with speed towards a singular building.
"Deactivate all activated skills."
He ordered in his mind, and then—
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
The entire air shook as Ryuk suddenly stopped his motion 20 meters before the singular building.
A powerful tsunami that would have devastated the entire island spread out from Ryuk, blasting the shockwaves backward into the sky.
The dark clouds instantly cleared up, and with a single step, Ryuk appeared before the golden door, clutching the knob as he stepped in.
When he stepped in, he sighted a figure curled into the sofa with disarranged golden hair all over her.
On the side table, a device lay, and tears could be seen dripping down her face.
Suddenly her ears perked up.
She turned her gaze to the door—only to find him standing a mere 10 centimetres away from her.
And her mind halted in shock.
She had just finished checking her device, which had an automatic number tracker and traced Ryuk's position to the far end of Grade B, in the Frost Plains of the Nagas.
Yet he was now standing before her—mere inches away.
From his lips and nose, snowy white air puffed out, a few droplets of sweat dripping down the side of his forehead—a sign of deep exhaustion.
Yet on his face was a smile.
One filled with a bit of happiness—but more so sadness and melancholy.
"I do mind you slipping out of my grasp, Morgaine."
Ryuk said with a serious expression on his face, his voice low yet firm.
"And I do understand you have truly been the only one giving much focus and attention to the relationship."
"You're always the one calling, always the one texting."
"And I do nothing but reply back with a single text or respond with a single call..."
Ryuk said, as tears unconsciously flowed faster from her eyes.
"But I just want you to know that I do care, Morgaine."
"I really do... right here."
Ryuk said, his hand touching, feeling his beating heart—which was pounding louder than he had ever felt before.
And surprise covered his face when he found himself pushed to the ground as Morgaine wrapped her hands around him, her tears dripping down his shoulders.
What do you think?
