A random pokemon journey

Heist

Heist

I'm talking complete breakdown of the unified league into a series of regional leagues much more prone to internal corruption. Even worse things would likely start to get hostile between Johto and Kanto again as the old scars from their previous wars reared their ugly heads again. Right now the two regions had a sort of competitive rivalry going on as the league keeps them in line but no league means hostilities could be stoked back up. All of this was a sort of worse case scenario though and in truth the most likely outcome as just some displeasure with the league on the whole that'll go away with enough time.-

I didn't stay for long after this at the boys home talking to him about his seals to give a comprehensive sales pitch to the older Stone. The details of the art was interesting as it incorporated ideas from at least three skills to function properly. Writing, Ball crafting and Unknown runes specifically. The first and second had the general shape and intense detail work used while for the second that was how the boy made the seals work with balls to begin with and reusable.-

It was a rather clever use of the mechanics of release on pokeballs as the seals took a miniscule amount of the energy released when a pokemon was sent out to create the intended effect of the seal. It wasn't just letters either as the boy admitted you could do some pretty interesting stuff with seals like added effects for dramatics. I made sure to remember all this for when I told the older Stone about it as this truly sounded like it might take those contests up a few notches once these seals got popular.-

Making my way to Solaceon ruins in the shadows out of sight proved trivial and I soon found the Meadow plate on a pedestal in a secret room of the ruins alongside a good dozen sleeping Unknown. The ruins themselves were frankly boring as they were crumbling and while there were murals depicting pokemon and past events in faded pigments and broken stone that was more or less it. I was glad that I left my bag with the rest of my plate collection hidden away outside the ruins as once the Meadow plate was added the resonance was visible to a minor degree like heat waves in the air.-

What came next was the hard part as I needed to be fully prepared for things to go sideways. The research center was located in Hearthome city near the center of the region and was a well protected building that even if a horde were to come at the city would be unaffected. Creating a distraction to slip in was my best shot but the distraction itself was also a problem to plan as too small and there wouldn't be enough chaos for me to go unnoticed but too big and there was a high chance of there being innocent collateral damage.-

I also had to make sure that the distraction couldn't be traced back to me or the whole thing would be pointless. It was originally going to be a headache to plan out but the boy with the seals gave me an idea. It was a bit risky as it involved Unknown runes but if I pulled it off it would be perfect. See I could used actual Unknown runes attached to a rock or something of that nature to effectively EMP the whole building which would knock out all the cameras and sensors there until it cleared up.-

In a manner of speaking my idea was to manufacture the disturbance field that groups of Unknown naturally produce to fizzle the tech in the building while I slipped in. An actual EMP wouldn't work since thanks to electric type pokemon being well known for that precautions against that have been taken. While this wasn't likely to work for very long I didn't need it to as my whole plan was to go in, grab the plate and then skedaddle. A pretty standard smash and grab type mission really.-

To deal with the human and pokemon aspect of this however I needed disguises as well as a very special and HIGHLY illegal potion. Well it's technically considered a poison due to it's effects but since it worked even on poison types I think it's probably not really. I was referring the the banned alchemical substance known simply as "Mind fog" that makes the last few minutes of memories incomprehensible. The stuff was banned because it violated the sanctity of the mind and if exposed to it for too long can even lead to permanent brain damage and amnesia.-

If that sounds familiar it's because the effects of a psychic type messing around in your head are the same. In fact this product was originally designed in hopes of counteracting those effects but was a failure since it only mimicked them instead. While I would normally loath to make such a heinous substance it was unfortunately my best chance of grabbing the plate without being identified. Distributing it was also easy as once the sensors were disabled I could pump it in smoke form through the entire buildings ventilation system along with a knockout gas.-

The trick however was that I had to do so from within the building itself since the league had air filter on the outside to prevent someone from spiking the air from outside the building. Ironically it was the leagues own pride and confidence in the security of the building that made this plan viable as no one would consider an internal strike possible thanks to the air quality sensors. Once the majority of the place was out cold or dizzy headed I could work unimpeded to grab the plate before making my get away. I also considered the presence of powerful individuals as I was tracking the whereabouts of anyone who may be a problem here.-

I stashed my plates in a safe spot with Gaia, Vulcan and Hades guarding them when I snuck into Hearthome city through the shadows. It was late in the day when most security was at it's most relaxed that I began plant my interference stones around the building which like provoking a hornets nest had the people inside come out to investigate. Using that opportunity I slipped in through a shadow warp and planted some more interference stones in case the ones outside the building were discovered and removed. -

I then quietly slipped on my gas mask as I set of three simultaneous vapor canisters in the vents before waiting. It didn't take long for the building to go well silent and I crept towards the room my x-ray vision told me the plate was. In a funny twist the few people who remained awake and not brain fogged rushed to protect the more important research items and not the plate so it was as easy as opening the door grabbing the plate and then shadow warping away as I collected the rocks inside. I sent out the signal to the small explosives in the interferences rocks on the outside to self destruct thus ridding myself of the only thing that may be able to be tied to me.
