Volume 13 Chapter 31: It’s Normal In A City Like Vastoria

Keith pulled his cart out to the streets again; it was supposed to be another smooth day: roasting some lily potatoes while selling his skewers to everyone. However, that was all shattered by the screaming coming from the side,

“Keith, why didn’t you tell us there was a seasonal item?!”

“Yeah! You should have said something if you’re going to do that!”

“Boo!”

"He's a bad human being!"

“….Why are you three acting like children? And Grandpa Cedric, why are you a part of this?! You tried it!” Keith held his hand over his eyes, wondering what was wrong with them. Three kings acted like children, holding potatoes in their hands and trying to chew him out.

...Yeah, just thinking about it made it so unbelievable. They looked like a bunch of children when they held them like so.

Keith was getting a massive headache from the amount of annoyance he was being directed to. When one did it, it was annoying. However, times that by three, it got irritating. Before he had the chance to say something,

“Knock it off, you two.” “Yeah, leave the kid alone.”

Virel and Edmund were the reasonable ones as they grabbed their collar and pulled them back. Edmund smiled, “Sorry about what they’re doing.”

“It’s fine, Uncle.” Keith could only shake his head, “Can you do something about that?” On the other side was Cedric doing something stupid; he didn't bother him but was saying weird things.

The grand duke gave him a look and said, “Do you think I could do something about my father?”

“I’m sorry.” Keith could only feel pity for the man. How did that become that? There was something wrong. There was no way Cedric gave birth to Edmund.

The genetic struggle was apparent!

While Keith continued his work, "Hmm?"

That was when he noticed the little fox; she was watching from the side. The trash cans were bigger than her, and she tried to keep herself hidden. However, her ears popped out from the top.

"!" When she noticed Keith glancing over, she quickly ducked down. Regardless, her little ears wiggled at the top, destroying her camouflage.

"..."

The little fox continued to hide herself. Feeling that she was in the clear, she planned to leave. That was when,

“Boo!” Keith suddenly appeared behind her and shouted. The little fox jolted!

“There’s no need to be afraid of me. Here, you want one of these, right?” In his hand was a lily potato, roasted to perfection.

“…” The fox stared at Keith with caution. But he maintained his smile as he placed the food on the plate and slid it over, “If you’re hungry, then you can eat at my stall. I got other delicious items like this potato.” Keith said his piece as he returned to cooking his food.

"..." The little fox wolfed down the potato in a matter of seconds. Finishing it off, she knew it wasn't enough. Grrr. Her tummy growled for more.

Her eyes soon locked onto the skewers that Keith grilled. Each one was glistening from the oil, and she couldn’t help but salivate while she stared. Slowly, her legs trudged over where Keith noticed, “Here.”

He handed a rush bull skewer over to the girl, and she wolfed it down again.

Keith chuckled, “No one is going to take it from you.” Two more skewers were placed beside her, and he rustled her head before returning to work.

The fox slightly jolted when she felt his hand, but it was only momentary as she watched the man cook.

Once he was finished, he looked at the fox who had been sitting on the earth bench,

“Like the food I made?” Keith smiled.

“…” No response.

Keith said nothing as he handed her a little box, “Here’s some food. If you’re hungry, then eat it.” Keith didn’t say much after that as he left with the others.

Carolyn muttered, “How could a child be here?” It was a little shocking to see all of this.

Keith shook, “It’s normal.” Vastoria was a city full of riches but had a dark side. He heard a loud whine in the living room when they returned home.

“…Well, I’m going to the second island.” Keith was about to dash off when two hands held his shoulders, “What’s the matter with you two?” “This has to be for you.”

“You have something to do about this.”

“Nooo! This is not me!”

“KEEEIIIITH!”

“…” Keith was speechless as he couldn’t say anything as he walked into the room to see that Nephele was crying. That alone caused Keith to grab his head, “What’s the matter, Nephele?”

Despite saying this, in his heart, he knew what was up.

"When are you going to contract with me?!"

“Yes, yes, I will think about it.”

“But you say that all of the time!”

“To be honest, I think I could contract with you. But I don’t want to.” Keith scratched his head.

“Wahhhh!” Diana shook her head, “Stop acting like a giant baby.”

“Fine, I will do it.” Keith sighed as he got out, “We could do it any time you want.”

“Eh?”

“I could have formed it a long time ago.”

“…” “What?” “Then why didn’t we do it so soon?!” Nephele was about to lose it.

Keith shrugged his shoulders, “That’s because I didn’t know when to do it.” He kinda forgot after all this time.

“Then we can do it late at night as well.” That was the same time as to how he did it.

“Yay!” The great spirit of wind jumped up and down with joy. Keith could only shake his head as he stated, “Then I will start and prepare dinner. We can do it afterward.”
