Chapter 903: The Last Mission: The Culprit
Day Ninety-Five…
Jane screamed hysterically as she hugged Mystique's lifeless body. She looked at her surroundings, feeling helpless and hopeless. She knew that her comrades were dying one by one.
"Aarrghhh!"
Nathan couldn't bear to see Jane like this. Without hesitation, he hugged her from behind. He wanted to console her but no words could make her feel better at this moment.
Meanwhile, on the other part of the beach, Aiden forced himself to look around, blood leaking from his ear. It was caused by the pressure wave of the explosions.
He gazed down at the woman in his arms. When the first explosion happened, Aiden immediately wrapped his arms around Black Rose, shielding her using his own body.
"Cherry, are you alright?" Aiden asked her.
However, her attention was not on him. Her gaze was fixed on the most impacted area. The last scene she saw replayed in her mind over and over again.
Everyone was enjoying the dance floor when suddenly the crystal lights exploded one after another. It created a series of explosions in the venue.
'The bombing is premeditated.' Black Rose thought to herself, clenching her fists.
The traumatizing event affected Black Rose's rational mind. She could no longer think clearly. All she wanted to do was to kill someone.
Without further ado, she forced herself to stand up, grabbing a sharp piece of debris. Before Aiden could stop her, Black Rose ran in Nathan's direction and plunged the sharp object into his back.
"Cherry, no!" Aiden could only scream in horror.
Nathan who was hugging Jane from behind felt the striking pain on his lower back. He turned around only to meet Black Rose's seething eyes.
"You did this! You kill them! You planted the bombs!" Black Rose yelled at Nathan, pressing the sharp object further into his flesh.
Nathan frowned, enduring the pain. He continued securing Jane's in his arms.
At that certain moment, Jane heard Black Rose's voice. She was glad that she was safe. She looked at her only to be surprised by the scene. Black Rose stabbed Nathan's back with sharp debris. And Nathan started to bleed.
'Black Rose, why? What have you done?' Jane was receiving one shock after another. Her friend attacked Nathan who was innocent. She knew that Nathan would never do this.
Jane immediately pushed Black Rose away from Nathan's body. And Aiden also responded, restraining Black Rose.
"Sis! Stay away from that man! He murdered our sisters! He planted the bomb!" Black Rose tried to struggle against Aiden's grasp.
Pak!
Jane slapped Black Rose on the cheek to knock some sense into her.
There was a moment of silence when Jane's palm hit Black Rose. She finally stopped struggling, unable to comprehend why her sister slapped her. She brought her hand to the spot where she was hit by Jane's slap.
"Nathan will never do this! You were wrong." Jane spoke with certainty.
Black Rose could no longer control the emotional pain. She burst out crying… weeping in front of them. Aiden continued holding her in his arms, hugging her.
It did not take long before they heard the sound of the ambulance, entering the resort.
"Nate, are you alright?" She asked him worriedly. She pressed her palm on his stab wound, stopping the bleeding.
Not wanting to make her worry, Nathan gave her a reassuring smile. Cupping her face, he said, "I'm fine. It's just a minor wound. Don't worry about me. Go and look for other survivors. The medical team has finally arrived."
Reluctant to leave him, Jane just nodded. She searched for Mrs. Frost. When Jane left, Nathan groaned in pain, putting pressure on his wound.
That was the time Stephen approached his best friend. Just like Aiden, Stephen received minor injuries during the explosion. He had been checking the other victims. But most of them passed away already.
"What happened here? Who stabbed you?" Stephen asked in puzzlement.
Nathan didn't say a word but his eyes shifted to Black Rose who was still sobbing in Aiden's arms.
Stephen took a deep sigh when he finally grasped the situation. It was Black Rose who attacked Nathan.
"She thought I planted the bombs," Nathan whispered to him. "It's my fault anyway. I lowered my guard. Someone planned all this… someone knew about my proposal to Jane."
Stephen pulled Nathan to the corner. "Let's talk here while I put bandage on your wound. You still need to go to the hospital."
"I can't leave Jane here. I'll go there once everything here is settled. I need to catch the culprit," Nathan mumbled through his gritted teeth. He was furious.
"Sigh. Stop being stubborn. The least you can do for Jane right now is to treat your wound. She will break down further if something bad happens to you." Stephen reminded him.
Nathan couldn't refute Stephen's words. "I know. But let me at least wait for Jane. We will go to the hospital together."
"You also need to tend to your wound. You might get an infection if not treated right away. Though you are a doctor, you are not immune to this." Nathan said with concern.
Then he grabbed Stephen's shoulders. "I'm glad you are safe, Bro."
Stephen nodded, his expression sullen. The two men peered at their surroundings. They were both angry and sad about what transpired tonight.
This tragedy broke their hearts. The supposedly joyous moment turned into chaos. So many people lost their lives… and they were all Jane's comrades– her family… her friends.
Little did they know, someone was watching them in the shadows, rejoicing and enjoying this chaotic scene.
"I hope you like my surprise, my Dear Bro. Our war hasn't ended yet. This is just the start. I'll make you suffer both. If I can't have her… then I will have to break her… until she regrets choosing you over me." Vincent mumbled, flashing his evil smile.
Vincent had been watching them secretly. He was ready to blow everything up, ruining Nathan's proposal, and killing as many as he could. He was even determined to kill Jane and Ethan.
But he didn't expect Jane to run away. At that certain moment, he had this crazy idea, still hoping that he still had a chance. He would make her regret loving Nathan.
What do you think?
