Because of the spilled red wine, it had become a ruffled mess. Suddenly, she opened her mouth, appearing utterly flustered and stamped her foot angrily!
No one could have imagined, she would fail so utterly in her first encounter with Isabel Smith!
She had always believed she knew Isabel Smith fairly well. She considered her just a spoiled young heiress from a wealthy family, with no brains or skills. She thought Isabel only carried herself arrogantly thanks to her influential family background!
But now, Evelyn Osbert felt she may know Isabel less than she believed, never expecting that Isabel could emanate such an intimidating aura!
And at tonight’s banquet, when she deliberately smashed her wine glass onto Isabel, she acted as if it didn’t bother her at all, entirely out of character for the woman she knew. Remembering how in the past, Isabel would react instantly, unable to hold her anger, cursing and threatening her…
There were many occasions, just like this night, where she intentionally provoked Isabel, but in the end, Isabel was the one who would raise her voice angrily, creating a scene, leading others to believe that Isabel was bullying her. This gave her the opportunity to slowly tarnish Isabel’s image and play the pitiful victim herself.
But tonight, Isabel maintained her composure, remaining completely unruffled and preserving her elegant demeanor throughout.
In these six years… Isabel had indeed changed more than expected…
She had previously thought that after becoming pregnant before marriage six years ago, her grandma would lose all affection for her and she’d spend the rest of her life alone in the United States. Who would have thought, she’d wind up entangled with the legend of the Bellshire Commercial Area, Mr. Percy Stanton!
It seems now, that she planned all along to return to Bellshire City!
But then again, so what?
If six years ago, she was able to force Isabel to leave Bellshire City, then six years later, she can just as easily make Isabel leave Bellshire City again!
…
After Isabel disappeared from the banquet once again, Percy appeared a little distracted. His gaze was constantly roaming the crowd searching for her, but after half a day of searching, she was nowhere to be found. At last, following the direction in which he last saw Isabel leave, he set off in search of her.
Before he could get out of the crowd at the banquet, he saw Isabel raise her left leg and take a couple of deep breaths, while standing on one foot, grimacing in pain.
She was still some distance away from the crowd and nobody was aware of her at the moment – a stark contrast to the goddess image she had maintained moments before.
Percy could clearly discern from her lip movements what she was muttering, “This fucking hurts!”
Even though she was cursing, Percy didn’t feel the slightest disgust or loathing. Instead, he was amused.
The next second, Isabel suddenly took a deep breath, planted her left foot on the ground, slightly raised her head, and carried on as if nothing had happened, heading back towards the banquet.
Seeing her calm and composed demeanor, Percy couldn’t help but frown.
What on earth was she thinking?
Clearly, she was in so much pain, yet she still wanted to put on a pretense and mingle with the crowd at the banquet?
Percy stood there, his gaze fixed on Isabel, watching her stride back into the banquet hall, exchanging pleasantries and greeting the guests, all with a beaming smile on her face.
However, Percy couldn’t help but notice every time Isabel spoke to someone, her left foot would bend slightly.
What do you think?
